Some of the work I'm doing at the moment with clients is based on Laura Berman Fortgang's programme: Now What? Find your life blueprint. At the beginning of the programme people are asked to identify what they hate about their lives...A consistent theme for most people is clutter...just having too much "stuff" around the place. They feel stifled, confined, frustrated by it.
Now I have to say, I loathe clutter. I grew up in a house where my mother had many china ornaments that struck me as (a) hideous, (b) dust magnets and (c) very prone to getting knocked over and broken (not that I'm speaking from personal experience or anything...<g> )

I've never really been the domestic goddess type but over the last couple of years (particularly with my own house) I've realised that I've never had a proper sort of system for doing deep deep cleaning ...you know the behind the press cleaning...where you find you have been breeding strains of cholera with the amount of dirt. Usually I waited until the dirt was actually seeping from behind the press before doing something about it...this year I decided to be different.

This year I'm looking at working on changing my eating habits and at a more profound level changing my relationship with food. If you are a thin eater, chances are the idea of using food as stimulant, comforter and friend seems incredibly alien. If you have a more complex relationship with food...(as I do), there's a certain amount of bereavement involved in letting the relationship be transformed.
